SAA Softball Pitcher of the Week - Kassie Howard of Berry
Earning two wins on the mound, Kassie Howard led the No. 6 Berry College softball team to a perfect 4-0 start to the season. Howard opened up the season for the Vikings in their first game of the year against the Hawks of Huntingdon College. Throwing five innings in the outing, Howard allowed only two hits and one earned run, adding seven strikeouts in the 14-3 victory. Howard then earned her second win of the year on the mound for Berry against the Piedmont College Lions on Sunday afternoon. Howard threw six innings in the contest, allowing only three hits and no earned runs, while striking out five in the 5-2 victory. On the weekend, Howard posted a 0.64 ERA, striking out 12 in her 11 innings of work. She allowed a mere five hits and three runs, holding her opponents to a .156 batting average. Howard is currently tied for first in the conference in wins on the year. She also ranks third in both ERA and strikeouts. Behind Howard, the Vikings are now 4-0.
