SAA Softball Player of the Week - Brittany Tuttle of Berry
Opening up the Vikings' season batting .750, Brittany Tuttle (pictured at roght) led the Berry College softball team to a perfect 4-0 week. Berry opened up play on Saturday against Huntingdon College, sweeping the Hawks 14-3 and 9-0. In the first contest, Tuttle was 2-for-4 at the plate, with four RBIs, three runs scored and two stolen bases in the win. Her two-run homer in the top of the second inning also gave Berry the 3-2 lead, opening up scoring for the Vikings. In game two, Tuttle was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and adding another two stolen bases in the contest. On Sunday, Berry remained undefeated, sweeping Piedmont College 5-2 and 8-0. Tuttle hit 2-for-3 at the plate in the first game, scoring one run and adding three more stolen bases. She finished the week hitting 2-for-2 in the second game against the Lions, scoring twice in the outing. On the week, Tuttle was 9-for-12 at the plate, hitting a team-high .750. She added one homerun, knocked in four RBIs, scored eight times and stole seven bases. She also posted a .769 on base percentage, as well as 1.000 slugging percentage. Defensively, she posted a 1.000 fielding percentage in center field for the Vikings. Tuttle currently tops the conference in batting average, home runs and stolen bases as well. Behind Tuttle, Berry is now 4-0 on the year.
