Centre's Owens Named KTCCCA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (via CentreColonels.com) - The Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association held its 2016 awards banquet last week and Centre's Lisa Owens was named the 2016 Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the state collegiate rankings.

Owens' Colonels finished third in the Southern Athletic Association Championships and reached as high as fifth in the South/Southeast Regional Rankings.

The 2016 season saw Centre send conference and regional champion Serena Gale-Butto (Muskegon, Mich.) as well as all-conference and all-region runner Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio) to the NCAA Championships in Louisville.

At the national finals, Gale-Butto finished sixth overall to become the first Centre cross country All-American since John Kieffer in 2011 and the first women's cross country All-American since Eileen Schilling in 2006.
