ATLANTA (Dec. 4, 2017) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Cam Caldwell of Sewanee has been named the SAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
For the week, Caldwell averaged 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. He also made 52.4 percent of his shots, which included a 50 percent mark from beyond the three-point line. Additionally, Caldwell led the Tigers to a 2-0 record with a non-conference win against Piedmont and an SAA victory over rival Centre.
Against the Lions, Caldwell scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Over the weekend, Caldwell led the Tigers against the Colonels with 17 points and eight rebounds.
In both games, Caldwell also led the Tigers' defense with multiple blocks which limited Sewanee's opponents to a combined 31.5 field goal percentage.
