Thompson and Kwapil named SAA Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ATLANTA (March 12, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Davis Thompson (Offense) of Birmingham-Southern and Andrew Kwapil (Defense) of Oglethorpe have been named the SAA Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honorees.

Offense

Davis Thompson - Birmingham-Southern

Davis Thompson had nine points last week, recording five goals and four assists in two wins over Huntingdon and Concordia. The junior midfielder scored two goals and assisted on two more in the 9-5 win over rival Huntingdon. On Sunday, he led the Panthers with three goals and another two assists in the 11-7 win over Concordia.

Defense

Andrew Kwapil - Oglethorpe

Kwapil had his best week of the season, as the Stormy Petrels went 1-1 over spring break. In a win against Mount St. Joseph, Kwapil caused seven turnovers and scooped up four ground balls. In Wednesday's 9-4 loss to Muskingum, Kwapil scooped six ground balls and caused two turnovers. Overall, he is third in the SAA in caused turnovers on the season, totaling 13.
