Ryan Fennelly of Rhodes named an NCAA Division III Scholar All-American

ATLANTA (June 12, 2018) - Rhodes men's lacrosse student-athlete and Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Offensive Player of the Year Ryan Fennelly has become the first player in Lynx history to be named an NCAA Division III Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have been nominated by their coach, been a senior in academic standing, and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The nominee must have also behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South All-Star team, or an outstanding conference player.

Fennelly became the second Lynx to ever play in the North/South Senior All-Star game earlier this year. The Montclair, N.J., native scored in that contest to help the South defeat the North 17-12. He is the only SAA student-athlete represented as a 2018 USILA Scholar All-American.

Fennelly, who graduated with a degree in Business, was a two-time captain who started in every possible game during his time at Rhodes. He owns each of the top four single-season marks for assists and points, as well as the following career records: 231 points, 136 goals. Fennelly was a four-time All-SAA award winner including a three-time first team All-SAA recipient. He was also named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll each of his last three seasons.

During the 2018 season, Fennelly tallied 31 goals and 25 assists to lead the Lynx with 56 total points. Rhodes finished with a 14-3 overall record where the Lynx advanced to the Sweet 16 round of their first-ever NCAA appearance.
