ATLANTA - The SAA released the first men's tennis Player of the Week for the spring season and, following voting by the league head coaches, Jacob Weinacker of Birmingham-Southern won the honor after getting off to a torrid start this season.

Jacob Weinacker (pictured at roght) of Birmingham Southern College had a great week by compiling a record of 2-1 in both singles and doubles at the #1 position in both. He lost to Chas Mayer of Trinity University (last year ranked #24) in a close 7-5, 6-4 match, then beat Ryan Beene of Texas Lutheran 6-1,6-0 and Harvie of Covenant 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action he teamed with Anthony Pellegrini in losing to Trinity's Tyer/Lambeth (last year ranked #2) 9-7 then defeating Beckenbach/Dunmore of Texas Lutheran 8-3 and Harvie/Cox of Covenant 8-5.

Freshman Ritwik Chatterjee of Rhodes College went a perfect 6-0 this weekend with three wins in doubles and singles. On Saturday Ritwik partnered with Albert Vacheron at #2 doubles and defeated Bethel University and Spring Hill College, both by a score of 8-1. Ritwik also won both of his singles matches Saturday playing #3 singles 6-1, 6-0 against Bethel, and 6-0, 6-1 against Spring Hill. On Sunday Ritwik partnered with Wes Tolsdorf at #3 doubles and defeated University of Ozarks 8-5, he followed that up with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #1 singles to conclude his perfect weekend.
Scott Gallimore, a senior from Sewanee, went 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 singles over Kanler Cumbass from Piedmont in an 8-1 win and teamed with freshman Hamza Khan to win 8-2 at #2 doubles over Max Middleton and Allen Sloane of Centre in a 9-0 win.
