ATLANTA (April 11, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Rodrigo Meade of Oglethorpe and Asael Hernandez of Millsaps have been named the SAA Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Rodrigo Meade - Oglethorpe
Meade had a tremendous set of performances last weekend at the Berry Field Day Invitational. Meade started the weekend with a fifth overall (fourth NCAA Division III) finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:04.08. This bests his previous Oglethorpe school record and currently ranks second in the SAA. Meade proceeded to run the 800 meters the next day and finished 10th (fifth in NCAA D-III) overall in the meet. He concluded his weekend with a leg in the 4x400 meter relay in which Oglethorpe finished fourth overall and the top NCAA Division III team.
Asael Hernandez - Millsaps
Hernandez had an excellent day in the throws at the Rhodes 7-Way event. The Major student-athlete won the discus with a throw of 45.44 m (149'1") setting new personal and school records. He is currently ranked first in the discus for the SAA. Hernandez also set a new personal and school records in the hammer with a throw of 47.92m (157'3") placing second.
