Tuttle and Howard lead Berry to a sweep of the SAA Softball awards

ATLANTA (Feb. 12, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Brittany Tuttle and Kassie Howard of Berry have been named the SAA Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honorees.

Player

Brittany Tuttle - Berry

Tuttle led No. 19 Berry to a perfect 4-0 start to the season. The senior started the week with a 3-for-3 outing against Covenant, scoring three runs and collecting three RBIs. Just a home run away from the cycle, she hit 1.000 with a 2.000 slugging percentage. In game two against the Lady Scots, she went 3-for-4, scoring two runs and collected an RBI. Tuttle also collected three stolen bases during the Tuesday set.

On Friday, she went 2-for-7 at the plate against Huntingdon, scoring a run and collecting an RBI.

For the week, Tuttle hit .571 with a .786 slugging percentage, scoring six runs and five RBI. She is currently tied for the league-lead in runs scored (6) and hits (8) 

Pitcher

Kassie Howard - Berry

The sophomore opened the season against Covenant on Tuesday, tossing 3.0 innings in a win. She allowed no hits in her outing, collecting six strikeouts. She followed her performance on Friday, tossing a complete 5.0 innings as the Vikings bested Huntingdon 9-1. She allowed just two hits and no earned runs, fanning six.

For the week, she pitched 8.0 innings, allowed just two hits, no earned runs, walked a pair and struck out 12. She is currently tied for the league-lead in ERA (0.00), wins (2) and strikeouts (12).
