O'Reilly and Brewer earn SAA Softball awards

ATLANTA (March 12, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Jackie O'Reilly (Player) of Sewanee and Erika Brewer (Pitcher) of Centre have been named the SAA Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honorees.


Jackie O'Reilly - Sewanee

O'Reilly helped the Tigers to a walkoff win in game two of Sewanee's series with Centre. In the circle, she pitched a complete game, allowed three runs and punched out four batters. At the plate, she recorded a 4-for-4 day with a homer and a double with two RBI and three runs scored, including the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. On the week, she compiled a .500 batting average (8-of-16), .529 on-base percentage, and an 1.125 slugging percentage. Overall, she had three homeruns, seven RBI and five runs scored.


Erika Brewer - Centre

Brewer had a spotless week for Centre in three appearances. Brewer picked up wins in both of her starts and between the two starts and two innings of relief work, did not allow a single run in 14 innings pitched. Along the way, Brewer struck out 12 batters, including five in each of her starts. On Saturday, Brewer threw a complete game one-hitter as Centre won, 7-0.
