Savannah LeGate of Oglethorpe named SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ATLANTA (Dec. 27, 2017) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Savannah LeGate of Oglethorpe has been named the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

LeGate continued her outstanding play over the first part of the season, earning Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic MVP honors for her efforts in victories over Centenary (Louisiana) and Emory & Henry.

For the week, she averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds a game while adding 2.5 steals and two blocks per contest. LeGate shot an impressive 64.7 percent from the floor over the two games.

In OU's 72-52 win over Emory and Henry on Dec. 19, LaGate scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds. She also added four steals and two blocks. In Oglethorpe's 74-45 win over Centenary the previous day, she scored 11 points on 5-of-9 from the field, grabbed nine rebounds, and recorded a two blocks.

For the season, LeGate leads the league in rebounding (9.7 per game), is fourth in field goal percentage (52.3), and fifth in scoring (14.1 PPG) and blocks (1.2 per game).
