Taylor of Sewanee named SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

ATLANTA (Jan. 3, 2018) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Bella Taylor of Sewanee has been named the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Taylor averaged 23.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and shot 54.3 percent from the field. 

Taylor returned from the Christmas break one point shy from 1,000 in her career. On Sewanee's second possession of the contest against Wooster on Dec. 29, Taylor made a layup on the first score of the game en route to a 24-point performance on 10-18 shooting in Sewanee's 69-56 win. The next day, against Covenant, Taylor scored a career-high 35 points, missing the school record by two points, on 11-of-22 shooting. Taylor recorded a double-double in the contest, collecting 13 boards.

She contributed to the Tigers forcing double overtime with the Scots, making all 10 of her shots from the charity stripe.

In Sewanee's 81-55 victory over Wesleyan (Ga.), she scored 10 points with three assists.
