ATLANTA (Aug. 10, 2017) – The Centre women's soccer team is ranked 18th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national NCAA Division III preseason poll the NSCAA released, Thursday.
The five-time defending SAA champion Colonels are coming off an outstanding 2016 season. Centre, who finished 19-3 a year ago, advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round before losing against Hardin-Simmons on penalty kicks.
Under long-time head coach Jay Hoffman, the Colonels had multiple winning streaks last fall while posting a perfect SAA mark (11-0) during the regular season and postseason tournament.
Hoffman, who was the 2016 SAA Coach of the Year said, "it is an honor to be recognized with such wonderful programs. The players work hard each year and it is great to see that their hard work continues to pay off."
The Colonels open their 2017 season with a 6:30 p.m. (EST), September 1st match against Wittenberg. That will also be the first-ever contest held at newly constructed Amend Field.
