Carr and Simmons are named SAA Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA (Dec. 6, 2017) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Virginia Carr of Rhodes and Paisley Simmons of Sewanee have been named the SAA Women's Swimming and Diving Student-Athletes of the Week.

Swimming

Virginia Carr - Rhodes

Carr led the Lynx to a second-place showing at the Transylvania Invitational. Swimming the 200 IM as an exhibition, Carr posted a lifetime best time of 2:12.78. Later in finals, Carr posted another lifetime best in the 100 Breast, breaking her own school record and notching an NCAA B Cut in a time of 1:04.35. 

On Saturday, Carr led off the 200 Free Relay in 25.00, posted a split time of 29.89 seconds in the Breaststroke (200 Medley Relay), and led off the 800 Free Relay in a 2:02.26.

On Sunday, Carr swam a prelim time of 2:25.15 in the 200 Breaststroke. Carr's time trialed a 1:04.48 100 Breaststroke before the Finals, which is an NCAA B Cut. She then posted a 24.82 in the 50 Free. 

Diving

Paisley Simmons - Sewanee

Simmons finished second on the 3-meter board with 390.15 points. She also finished fourth on the 1-meter (365.15) at the Transylvania Invitational. She was just four points off her season-best score for the 1-meter.
