ATLANTA - The SAA announced the women's tennis Player of the Week for all matches played through February 12 and, following voting by the league head coaches, Darby Duvall of Sewanee claimed the award following a perfect start to the 2017 spring campaign.

Sewanee's Darby Duval, a freshman from Atlanta, went 3-0 this weekend for the Tigers helping them begin with a 2-0 spring campaign. Duvall played #1 against Piedmont winning 6-1,6-0 in the tigers 9-0 debut. She then teamed up with clementina Davila at #1 doubles winning 8-5 against Centre's Rao/Zelichenok and capped off a perfect 6-0,6-0 victory against Maddox of Centre at #6 in the 8-1 team victory. Duval is currently 5-1 in singles for the year with a #14 regional ranking.

Carlee Petro of BSC is 1-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles so far this season. She lost to Trinity's No. 1 player 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 on Feb. 1st and beat Covenant's No. 1 Ally Hall 6-1, 6-0. In No 1. doubles against Covenant she won 8-2.
