ATLANTA (Nov. 10, 2017) — Even when the odds are stacked against you, some things in life are worth fighting for. On Friday, that very situation stared the Berry volleyball team down during the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament Atlanta Regional. After winning a thrilling 3-2 match on Thursday against Hanover, the Vikings were in another close contest a day later. After dropping the first two sets against Covenant, Berry rallied to win the remaining three and advance to the Regional Championship match.

After the Vikings fell behind with set losses at 18-25 and 23-25, Berry rallied to win the final three frames, 25-16, 25-20, and 15-10. Berry will now take on the winner of host Emory and Christopher Newport, Saturday.

SAA Player of the Year Hannah Kate Thompson paced the Viking offense with 55 assists. The majority of those passes came toward the attacks of Emily Hancock and Sarah Sprague. Hancock led the Vikings with 27 kills while Sprague added 15 and an impressive .314 attack percentage.

On defense, Elizabeth Ragland was outstanding with 31 digs while teammate Christina Goforth added 27 stops.
