ROME, Ga. (March 12, 2021) - Top-seeded Berry and second-seeded Oglethorpe advanced to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Basketball Tournament Championship game with semifinal wins, Friday.
The Vikings earned their second straight trip to the title game by surviving a scare from fourth-seeded Hendrix with a 64-63 win. A layup by Chase Elliott with 13 seconds remaining pushed Berry into the title game. Michael Johnson led a balanced Berry offense with 11 points. Seth Stanley paced the Warriors with 16 points and five rebounds.
Oglethorpe advanced to the final game of the 2020-21 season by defeating third-seeded Birmingham-Southern, 83-72. Dimetri Chambers scored a game-high 33 points on 11-for-24 shooting. He also grabbed eight rebounds and added two assists.
The championship game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. (EST), Saturday, at Berry.
