JACKSON, Miss. (March 12, 2021) - Millsaps and Rhodes advanced to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Basketball Tournament Championship game with semifinal wins, Friday.
The top-seeded Majors used strong second and third quarters to pull away from Centre, 58-42. After a close first 10 minutes, Millsaps outscored the Colonles 35-18 the next 20 minutes.
The third-seeded Lynx got 28 points from Kiera Downey and 15 from Ellen Haggen. Along with those great individual performances Rhodes used a strong defense that limited Oglethorpe to a 29.9 field goal percentage.
Even with Savannah LeGate's 24-point, 17-rebound double-double, the Stormy Petrels could not overome a bad third quarter as Rhodes pulled away for a 72-58 win.
The SAA Women's Basketball Tournament Championship game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. (CST), Saturday, at Millsaps.
