ATLANTA, Ga. (November 7, 2022) – The Southern Athletic Association has announced the 2022 Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams.

Coleman Jennings of Birmingham-Southern repeated as SAA Offensive Player of the Year while Rhodes’ Mitchell Fenton earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Tyler Scott of Sewanee is the SAA Newcomer of the Year and Rhodes leader Matt Lamb was named the SAA Coach of the Year.

Jennings (Senior / Vestavia Hills, Ga.) is the all-time leading scorer in conference history and one of the most decorated student-athletes among all sports. He leads the SAA with 32 points, sitting atop the goals list with 13 and second in assists with six. The senior has three multi-goal games this season, including a hat trick against LaGrange. Twice he was named SAA Player of the Week in 2022. Jennings was the SAA Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and now the three-time SAA Offensive Player of the Year.

Fenton (Sophomore / Jacksonville, Fla.) allowed just four goals through 15 regular season matches and entered the SAA Tournament as the nation’s leader in save percentage, stopping 94 percent of shots faced. His 0.215 goals against average and 11 shutouts are also Division III bests. The sophomore ranks fourth in the conference with 49 saves and didn’t allow a multi-goal game during the regular season.

Scott (Freshman / Charlotte, N.C.) led Sewanee with 1477 minutes played and anchored one of the top defensive units in the SAA. The first year was instrumental in holding opponents to just three shots on a goal and 3.2 corner kicks a game. The Tigers posted 11 shutouts and were co-champions of the regular season.

Lamb led Rhodes to the SAA regular season championship and top-seed in the conference tournament. The Lynx went unbeaten in the conference slate, going 4-0-3 while allowing just two goals in league play. He guided eight players to All-SAA honors, including the Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

Voting for the All-SAA teams was conducted among the conference’s eight head coaches.
