The top-seeded Rhodes Lynx earned their second straight SAA women's basketball championship with a 77-61 victory over the sixth-seeded Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels Sunday afternoon at Mallory Gymnasium in Memphis, Tennessee. The Lynx led virtually wire to wire and held as much as a 17-point advantage en route to the 16-point win.
Catherine Althoff led Rhodes with 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Alli Mayeux added 16 points on 7 of 8 from the charity stripe to go with 10 rebounds and six assists. Oglethorpe's Sydni Donovan led all scorers with 24 points on 10 of 20 from the field, while also grabbing 12 boards and blocking six shots.
The Lynx now earn the SAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, to start next weekend at sites to be announced.
