Sewanee Earns Top-Seed in SAA Women’s Tennis Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 25, 2023) – After an unbeaten Southern Athletic Association season, Sewanee earned the top-seed in the 2023 SAA Women’s Tennis Tournament.
 
The conference championship is set for April 28-30 at the Champions Club Tennis Complex in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

2. Rhodes
3. Centre
4. Berry
5. Millsaps
6. Oglethorpe
7. Birmingham-Southern
8. Hendrix
 
Sewanee is ranked 12th in the latest ITA national poll and No. 2 in the Atlantic South Region. Ansley Carpenter is the 16th-ranked singles player in the region while Brooke Despriet is ranked 19th. Katherine Petty and Despriet check in at No. 2 in the regional doubles ranking.
 
The Tigers match-up with eight-seed Hendrix in the first round of the tournament.
 
Rhodes posted a 6-1 record in the SAA and earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament draw. The Lynx are ranked No. 10 in the region, headlined by doubles team Agda Laasko and Lea Letourneau ranked No. 14 in the Atlantic South. Rhodes is set to face seven-seed Birmingham-Southern on the first day of the championship.
 
Three-seed Centre meets six-seed Oglethorpe and four-seed Berry plays five-seed Millsaps in the first round.
 
Tournament semifinals are set for Saturday, April 29 at 9 a.m. and the championship match on Sunday, April 30 at 9 a.m.
