CFHC Reveals Inaugural All-Conference Awards

DANVILLE, Ky.  (November 6, 2024) – The Collegiate Field Hockey Conference has announced players of the year, coach of the year, and All-Conference teams in celebration of its inaugural season.
 
Regular season champion Rhodes boasted three major awards in Defensive Player of the Year RC Kugler, Goalie of the Year Catherine Gluodenis, and Coach of the Year Laura Hurff. Grayson Scott of Mary Washington was voted the Offensive Player of the Year and Sewanee’s Kennedy Harcourt was named the Newcomer of the Year.
 
All-CFHC voting was conducted among the conference’s six head coaches.
 
Offensive Player of the Year – Grayson Scott | Mary Washington | Junior | King George, Va. – led the CFHC in goals scored, netting seven in her five conference games and 15 overall this season. Five times she enjoyed multi-goal games, including a hat trick in the Eagles 5-0 win over Centre. The junior recorded a conference-best 31 shots and also handed out two assists.
 
Defensive Player of the Year – RC Kugler | Rhodes | Senior | Woodstown, N.J. – the leader of the CFHC champion Lynx, Kugler orchestrated a defense that held conference opponents to just four goals in league play and 22 over the 18 game season. Rhodes posted four shutouts, including against CFHC foes Marian twice and Concordia once, keeping teams to less than five shots in each contests. Kugler also had four goals and led the conference with nine assists this season.
 
Goalie of the Year – Catherine Gluodenis, Rhodes | Senior | Landenberg, Pa. – was the top goalie in the CFHC, allowing just four goals in more than 300 minutes against conference opponents. The senior posted double-digit saves four times, including 15 against Christopher Newport. In conference, she had 21 stops and led the league with a .840 save percentage.
 
Newcomer of the Year – Kennedy Harcourt | Sewanee | First Year | Louisville, Ky. – the defender/midfielder made an immediate impact for Sewanee in her first collegiate season. She played all 60 minutes in 12 games and helped bolster the offense by getting off four shots. Her play was in key to the Tigers allowing just 10 goals in conference, a 28 goal improvement from a year ago.
 
Coach of the Year – Laura Hurff | Rhodes | 1st Year – a decorated player and veteran coach, Hurff took over the Lynx prior to the start of the 2024 season guided and the program to its 15th overall conference title and first CFHC crown. She mentored two CFHC Players of the Year and six all-conference performers.
