SAA Women’s Golf Report – March 25

Atlanta, Ga. – The SAA has named its women’s golf athletes of the week for the third week of March.

Athlete of the Week:
Annie Piggott | Millsaps | Junior | Lindsay, Ontario -  earned medalist honors at the Centenary-hosted Hal Sutton Invitational, becoming the first Millsaps women’s golfer to win a tournament since 2013. Playing at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City, Louisiana, Piggott opened with an 80 and then closed with a round of 75 to finish at 11-over, four strokes ahead of the runner-up.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Teagan Fritts (Berry) – tied for 23rd in a field of 102 players at the Jekyll Island Collegiate. The senior shots scores of 80-76-82 to finish 22-over for the tournament.
  • Gentry Scott (Birmingham-Southern) – tied for 50th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate, finishing 31-over. She posted scores of 75-85-87 for the weekend.
  • Merrick Seamans (Sewanee) – led Sewanee to a fifth place finish a at the Jekyll Island Collegiate, tying for 21st individual. She shot scores of 78-81 to open and jumped 17 spots on the leaderboard on the final day with a 78.
  • Elizabeth Powell (Oglethorpe) – tied for 43rd at the Stormy Petrel’s hosted Jekyll Island Collegiate. She turned in scores of 77-79-89 at the tournament.
  • Amber Alsup (Hendrix) – tied for 22nd at the Central Baptist Invitational, shooting scores of 94-90.
