ATLANTA, Ga. (April 20, 2024) – After earning a three-game sweep of Hendrix to close its conference slate, Centre captured the program’s first SAA baseball crown and the top seed in the postseason tournament.
The Colonels entered the season picked sixth in the SAA preseason poll and came out the other side with a 15-6 mark in league play, winning all seven of its SAA series’, including two sweeps.
The top four seeds will host the bottom four seeds in best of three series’ April 26-27 to open the tournament. The winners of those match-ups will advance to the double elimination tournament, May 2-4 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
No. 1 seed Centre will welcome No. 8 Millsaps to Danville for its opening weekend. Berry earned the No. 2 seed after going 14-7 in conference play. The Vikings will play host to No. 7 Sewanee in the first series. No. 3 Birmingham-Southern was also 14-7 in conference but lost its season series against Berry to drop a spot in the bracket. The defending champion Panthers are set to welcome No. 6 Rhodes for Striplin Field’s final games. No. 4 Hendrix and No. 5 Oglethorpe will play in Conway for the right to advance into the bracket.
