DICKSON, Tenn. (April 28, 2024) – Powered by five finishers in the top-15, Oglethorpe captured its sixth Southern Athletic Association men’s golf championship at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson on Sunday.
Stormy Petrel standout Beck Lewis was medalist for the second-straight season and shared the honor with Centre’s Harrison Akers. Both players finished the three-day event at one-under.

Holding a nine-stroke lead entering the final round, Oglethorpe held off a hard-charging Sewanee squad to once again raise the trophy. The Petrels posted rounds of 284-285-292 to finish at three-under par. The Tigers final round 284 was tied for the best of the weekend and vaulted them three spots in the leaderboard into second at six-over. Berry and Rhodes were both 13-over in a tie for third.
Akers stayed atop the leaderboard with a final round 77 to go along with scores of 67-71 earlier in the event. Lewis used a one-over 73 on Sunday to jump three spots on the leaderboard and force co-medalists. Preston Servers of Millsaps had the day’s best round with a four-under 68 and finished tied with Elias Becker of Sewanee (71-73-72) at even par. Rhodes duo Avery Stansell and John Bates both closed the event at one-over and tied for fifth.
