“We are thrilled to have John’s years of experience as both an on-court official and steward of the game leading our men’s basketball officiating program,” said LaDew. “As the SAA prepares to usher in a new era, John’s passion and character will be an asset to guide our veteran officials and cultivate new talent.”

St. Clair has been an official for more than three decades, including 27 at the NCAA Division I level. He has worked games for the Big 12, Conference USA, American Athletic Conference and Sun Belt. He began his officiating career in the early 1990s, working high school games in the Memphis area. In 2023, he was inducted as an official into the Memphis/Shelby County Hall of Fame.

“I am excited and honored to be named the new Coordinator for the SAA men’s basketball,” stated St. Clair. “I look forward to picking up where Coach Drake and Bart Lenox left off as I enjoyed being a member of their on-floor staff in recent years.  My hope is to provide a great staff of officials with training and expertise that will be among the best in the country, I appreciate Commissioner LaDew and the committee for this opportunity.”
