ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Athletic Association announced today that it has joined the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN), a national, nonpartisan initiative of the 501(c)(3) Civic Nation, that recognizes colleges and universities for their commitment to civic engagement efforts and increasing student voting rates. ALL IN encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, make participation a core value on their campus, and cultivate generations of engaged citizens.

"This initiative aligns with our mission to foster leadership, integrity, and community engagement among our student-athletes,” shared SAA Commissioner, Stacey LaDew. “By leveraging our athletic partnership, we aim to encourage good-hearted competition among our campuses to promote civic participation in a non-partisan effort. We are uniting our campuses to strengthen our democratic values and empower informed citizenship. Together with the All-In organization, we are committed to making a positive impact on our communities and supporting a more inclusive and representative democracy."
"Nonpartisan engagement in the electoral process is a life skill all student-athletes, and all students in general, should learn. At ALL IN, we're grateful to the SAA and the respective institutions of the conference for prioritizing civic engagement and supporting student-athletes in developing their civic leadership skills," ALL IN Campus Challenge Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives Stephanie King said.
By joining ALL IN, the SAA institutions are committed to developing and implementing an action plan to improve nonpartisan civic engagement at each campus with the assistance of a designated committee of relevant stakeholders on their campus. Participation in ALL IN will also be considered part of the school’s community service and civic engagement efforts.
ALL IN does not support or oppose candidates for public office or take a stand for or against any political party. It encourages active and informed participation in American democracy.
