FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The University of Mary Washingon field hockey team used goals from five different players in defeating Sewanee, 5-1, in the Collegiate Field Hockey Conference semifinal round on Friday afternoon in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. With the win, the Eagles (13-6) advance to Sunday's championship game for the second straight year.
After a scoreless first quarter, senior Grayson Scott opened the scoring on an assist from Anna Reed at 20:42. Four minutes later, first year Ally Von Herbulis scored on a Mackenzie Proffitt assist, and the Eagles led, 2-0 at halftime.
In the third, junior Hannah Jadgchew scored unassisted at 32:02, and senior Monique Lipton followed with another three minutes later. After a Tigers goal, Dyanela Rivarola scored on a Katie Royle assist at 43:10, which capped the scoring.
The Eagles led in shots, 14-2, as well as penalty corners, 14-4. Junior Tori Winans, senior Erin Roy, and first year Lenna Chandler combined for the shutout.
UMW will face the winner of Friday's semifinal, Rhodes for the CFHC Championship. First whistle is set for 12:00 p.m.
