Track:
Beau Brown | Centre | JR | Salvisa, KY – Beau Brown got his junior season off to a strong start this past weekend at the Centre First Chance Meet. Brown raced in the 200m and picked up the win for the Colonels with a time of 21.43, good for first on the SAA Performance List through the first weekend of meets. He also ran the 60m and finished second overall with a time of 6.89, good enough to rank him second on the conference's performance list.
Field:
Bocar Diagana | Trinity | SR | Edina, MN – Diagana set the first school record of the day in the men's triple jump, setting an indoor PR of 14.56m to take fourth place. That mark would have earned him 13th on the NCAA Indoor Championships national qualifying list last year, putting him in a great position to qualify for the meet this year. Diagana is ranked fifth in D-III after the opening weekend of action.
Track Notable Performances:
- Zeno Goss | Oglethorpe | FR | Lawrenceville, GA – Oglethorpe freshman Zeno Goss made a stellar debut in his first track season with the Oglethorpe record in the 1k at the Birmingham Icebreaker. He ran 2:33 which was good for ninth place overall. The busy first meet also saw him run the 400 meters and the 4 x 400 meter relay, where the finished 19th and 13th, respectively.
- Jack Collins | Sewanee | FR | New Orleans, LA – Jack Collins broke a 22-year-old record this past weekend at the Commodore Winter Challenge, as he ran a 15:25.06 5000m.
- Orie Pike | Trinity | SR | Torrance, CA – Pike ran the 60-meter race in a time of 7.19, then doubled back to set a PR of 22.34 in the men's 200-meter, taking ninth place. He now ranks third on Trinity's all-time list.
Field Notable Performances:
- David Harless | Centre | SO | Russell, KY – David Harless made Centre men's track & field history this weekend at the Centre First Chance meet. Already a program record holder in the shot put, the sophomore eclipsed the school record mark he hit last season as he won the event with a mark of 52-7.5 (16.04m), breaking his previous record by nearly three inches. Harless leads the conference performance list in the shot put after this weekend's opening meets.
- Sam Leonard | Sewanee | SR | Jasper, IN –Sam Leonard placed ninth in the men's high jump at the Commodore Winter Challenge for the Tigers, with a mark of 1.80 meters.
