CANTON, Ga. (April 28, 2025) – The Southern Athletic Association has announced its Men’s Tennis All-Conference honorees and major award winners.
Jordan Theron of Sewanee repeated as Athlete of the Year while Hendrix first year Wesley McClure was voted the Rookie of the Year. Sewanee, led by Felix Mann, was voted the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year for the second-straight season.
Theron (Senior/ Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation in singles after going 16-1 during the regular season. His lone loss was a three-set battle to the No. 11 ranked player in Division III. In conference play, Theron was 5-0, winning each in straight sets from the No. 1 position. He was 17-2 in doubles action, teaming with four different players during the year. Theron was unbeaten in SAA play, competing at No. 1 doubles in four matches and No. 3 for one victory. He is the fourth Sewanee player to win the award and the third to repeat, joining Birmingham-Southern’s Hallet Green (2021-2022) and fellow Tiger Avery Schober (2013-2015).
McClure (First Year/Little Rock, Ark.) made an immediate impact for the Warriors, posting a record of 9-5 during the regular season. He was 3-2 against SAA competition, playing at the No. 1 position. McClure had big wins over fellow All-Conference performers Kellen Simmons of Oglethorpe and Noah Koch of Berry. He was 9-4 in doubles play, joining Agustin Kalinowski at the No. 1 position. They were 4-1 in the league, including a 6-3 win against Sewanee. McClure is the first Hendrix Warrior named SAA Rookie of the Year.
Mann is in his seventh year leading the Tigers and just sealed up Sewanee’s 11
th conference title. He guided four All-Conference performers this season, including two First Team Singles and a First Team doubles team. Mann has been voted the SAA Coach of the Year three other times, including last season with John Shackelford earning the honor twice in league history.
