NORTHBROOK, Ill. - Trinity University senior football player Caleb Bayer and Berry College's Christian Lewis have been named two of a record-setting 197 nominees for the prestigious 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, announced Tuesday by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association.
The honor recognizes student-athletes across all divisions of college football who go above and beyond in their dedication to community service and leadership.
Bayer is a two-time D3football.com All-Region selection and a three-time All-Southern Athletic Association offensive lineman. He has led Trinity to three straight SAA Championships and three straight NCAA Playoff appearances. Bayer has also earned a spot on the Trinity Dean's List over four semesters, is a three-time member of the SAA Academic Honor Roll, and has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team® each of the past two years. Lewis is a senior quarterback for the Vikings who led the team to an SAA Championship last season with an NCAA Playoff appearance. He has been named to the CSC Academic All-District team and inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma.
Celebrating its 34th year, the Good Works Team® highlights individuals who exemplify selflessness and a commitment to making a lasting impact off the field. Bayer, a standout on the field for Trinity, joins an elite group of nominees tackling community challenges ranging from mental health and homelessness to education, health care access, and youth mentorship.
As part of an expanded partnership, Allstate is again teaming with the Wuerffel Foundation to recognize athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics and service. The final Good Works Team® roster of 23 honorees – comprising representatives from NCAA Division I (FBS), FCS, Divisions II and III, NAIA, and one honorary coach – will be announced in September.
