Rhodes Women's Lacrosse Takes Back Tournament Title

MEMPHIS – The Rhodes women’s lacrosse team reclaimed the championship title this afternoon, defeating Sewanee 16–9 to secure its 10th overall title.

Southern Athletic Association Offensive Athlete of the Year Marlin Price opened the scoring early for the Tigers, finding the back of the net within the first four minutes. Rhodes responded quickly, as tournament MVP Maddie BeVier evened the score at one apiece.

Caroline Kardian and Peyton Stevens led the offensive charge for Rhodes, each tallying a goal in the opening quarter. The duo went on to score five and four goals, respectively, combining for nine of the Lynx’s 16 total.

Holding a 3–1 lead entering the second quarter, Rhodes surged with a 6–2 run to take a commanding 9–3 advantage into halftime. Despite the deficit, Sewanee goalkeeper Lilly Jordan delivered an impressive performance with 18 saves, while Rhodes’ Annabelle Kinzel remained steady with seven saves behind a strong defensive unit.

The third quarter proved pivotal, as both teams traded goals in a 3–3 stalemate, with Rhodes maintaining control of the momentum.

Sewanee made one final push in the fourth, using a 3–0 run sparked by Ellen Lewis to cut into the deficit. However, Rhodes answered emphatically with a 3–0 run of their own to close out the game and secure the program’s 10th SAA tournament championship.
