Kersten and Perry Eliminated in NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Trinity University men's tennis juniors Kishan Kersten (Plano, Texas / West) and Jared Perry (Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) lost 6-3, 6-2 in the NCAA Doubles Championship Quarterfinals against the #2 doubles seeds Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik from Emory University (GA) on Sunday afternoon.

Today's match came down to Emory's ability to break serve. Kersten and Perry held serve in the first set to lead 3-1, but Emory won the next three games – including a break on Trinity's second serve opportunity – to take a 3-1 lead. The teams held serve the next few games, but with a 5-3 lead and a chance to finish off the set, Emory broke Trinity again to take the win. The Tiger duo fell behind 4-0 in the second set after having their serve broken two more times. Kersten and Perry rallied to win the next two games to make it 4-2 but Emory won the final two games that included one more service break to advance.

The Tiger duo is the first Trinity doubles team to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals since the 2022 season, with Kersten and Perry accomplishing that feat in their first appearance in the individual doubles tournament. By advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals, both Tigers will earn ITA Doubles All-American recognition. Perry was a singles and doubles All-American in 2024, while Kersten was a doubles All-American in 2025 and earned the honor in singles earlier this year.
