Athletes of the Week

Offensive:
Barton Mixon | Sewanee | SO | Savannah, GA – Barton Mixon delivered a standout performance in Sewanee’s 24-17 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, totaling 225 all-purpose yards and scoring two touchdowns. Mixon rushed for 120 yards on 22 carries and added 105 receiving yards on four receptions, averaging 5.5 yards per carry and 26.3 yards per reception. He opened the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and later caught the game-winning 10-yard touchdown with 6:35 remaining in the fourth quarter. Mixon also rushed for 18 yards on the Tigers’ decisive 80-yard fourth-quarter scoring drive, including a 16-yard first-down run that helped set up his game-winning touchdown. His performance helped Sewanee secure the 500th win in program history.
 
Defensive:
Diego Davila | Trinity | SO | Spring Branch, TX – Davila led a stingy Trinity defense that allowed just 217 total yards and a paltry 24 yards rushing in a 24-6 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday. Davila piled up eight tackles – six solo – that included two sacks for a loss of 18 yards, a forced fumble, a pass breakup, and a QB hurry. 
 
Special Teams:
Miles Hamby | Berry | SR | Dacula, GA – A senior punter from Dacula, GA Hamby led the Vikings special teams in a 16-10 win with two punts for an average of 43.5 yards with a long of 48 with both inside the 20.

Offense
  • Jason Love | Trinity | JR | San Antonio, TX – Love led the #11/12 Trinity football team to a 24-6 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, closing out the non-conference schedule with a 3-0 record. Love piled up 91 total rushing and receiving yards to lead the Tigers to victory. Love finished with 52 yards rushing on13 carries (4.0/rush) and led the team with three receptions for 39 yards.
 
Defense
  • Erik Jensen | Berry | JR | Lindale, GA – A junior linebacker from Lindale, GA Jensen led the Vikings defense with nine total tackles, 7 solo and two assists as they held the Carnegie Mellon Tartans to just one touchdown and overcame five turnovers to win 16-10. He also had 3.5 tackles for a loss totaling 22 yards and a sack for a loss of 16 yards on a crucial third down with the Tartans having a chance to expand their lead as they were driving down the field and were in scoring range.
  • Isaiah Copeland | Sewanee | SR | Jefferson, GA – Isaiah Copeland delivered a key performance in Sewanee’s 24-17 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, recording 10 tackles and forcing a fumble that helped preserve the Tigers’ lead in the fourth quarter. With N.C. Wesleyan driving deep into Sewanee territory and threatening to score, Copeland forced a fumble on a reception at the Sewanee two-yard line, allowing the Tigers to take over at their own 20. Sewanee then drove 80 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Copeland added 10 tackles in the Tigers' victory, marking the 500th win in program history. 
 
Special Teams
  • Judson Crockett | Trinity | JR | Austin, TX – Crockett blocked his third punt of the season in the third quarter of Trinity’s 24-6 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday night. After the Tigers scored to take a 17-0 lead in the third quarter, PLU was forced to punt on its next drive, and Crockett was there for the block. Trinity took over in PLU territory and scored to take a 24-0 lead.
