ATLANTA (Oct. 7, 2019) – The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced that Tommy Lavine (Trinity), Liam Vincifora (Millsaps), and Sandy Burks (Hendrix) have been named SAA Football Player of the Week winners.
Offense - Tommy Lavine - Senior Receiver - Trinity
After being held without a catch for the first time in is career last week, Lavine had one of the top games of his career to lead the Tigers to a 52-35 win over Austin, Saturday. Lavine finished with 11 receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns, tying his career-high for catches in a game, and missing his career-high in yardage by just three yards.
The game marked his ninth 100-yard receiving game and his eighth career game with multiple touchdowns. This season, Lavine leads Trinity with 26 receptions for 395 yards (15.2 yards/catch) and five receiving touchdowns. He is tied for the SAA lead in receptions and is second on the conference in touchdown receptions this season.
Defense - Liam Vincifora - Junior DL - Millsaps
Vincifora lived in the Centre backfield in Millsaps's double-overtime win. He finished with three sacks for 22 yards and 4.5 total tackles for loss for 26 yards. He also had one forced fumble and a quarterback hurry. Vincifora helped the Majors to their first win against Centre since 2013.
Special Teams - Sandy Burks - Senior Kicker - Hendrix
Burks went 2-for-3 on field-goal tries, including a career-long 48-yard, in Hendrix's 33-0 win over Rhodes. He finished with nine points to help Hendrix stay unbeaten.
