Erwin of BSC finishes second at NCAA Championships in women's 500 Freestyle

GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 21, 2019) – Birmingham-Southern junior Becca Erwin finished second in the women's 500-yard freestyle at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Erwin, who came into the event with the fastest qualifying time in the nation – 4:49.51 – finished seventh in the morning preliminaries with a time of 4:55.85.

In the championship heat, Erwin led most of the race but was edged by one-tenth of a second by two-time national champion Laura Westphal of Williams.

With her time of 4:48.25, the BSC junior had her best finish at nationals and became an All-American.
