GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 22, 2019) – Led by another great performance from Birmingham-Southern junior student-athlete Becca Erwin, a number SAA swimmers did well Thursday at the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
After finishing second in the 500 freestyle earlier this week, Erwin captured her second trip into the top-three with a third-place finish in the 200 free. Erwin posted a time of 1:48:85.
Erwin, Anna Jordan Luth, Mary Beth Ronne, and Mary Beth Stewart also competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay preliminaries to start the day and came in 30th with a time of 1:38.12.
Along with the BSC group, Rhodes brother and sister combo Allie and Hayden Hill also competed. Allie competed first in the 200 individual medley, finishing 35th in 2:07.60. On Friday, she will race in the 100 back.
Hayden set the bar high in his first NCAA appearance. The sophomore broke his own record on Thursday, as well as the SAA Open record, finishing the 100 fly in 49.46. He finished 27th in prelims after being seeded 39th. Hayden will gear up for his signature race, the 200 fly on Friday morning.
