SAA Volleyball Tiebreakers:
Two Teams: The winner of the regular season, in-conference head-to-head will gain the higher seed. If teams split the regular season series or if they were unable to play for any reason, the criteria listed below is applied.
- Head-to-head matches won against tied teams
- Head-to-head Set Record against tied teams.
- SAA Set Record: The team with the highest sets won percentage in conference play earns the higher seed.
- Head-to-Head Point Differential: The team with the highest point differential between tied teams earns the higher seed.
- SAA Point Differential: The team with the highest point differential in conference play earns the higher seed.
- If any tie cannot be broken for any reason, the final NCAA Division III NPI rankings will be used to break any remaining ties.
Three (or more) Teams: The highest head-to-head win-loss percentage of the tied teams against each other is first considered. The team with the best win-loss percentage is ranked first, followed by the team with the next-best win-loss percentage, and continuing unless there is a tie in the group. If two teams remain, revert to “two-teams” tiebreaking procedure. If three or more teams remain tied, the following criteria are applied in order until a tie is broken; Note, that once a seed is determined after a criterion is applied, the procedure restarts with the remaining teams until all seeds are determined.
