Bryan, Jackson, Perry, White and DeLoach comprise SAA softball postseason award winners

The SAA released the 2022 All-SAA softball team Friday, as selected by the league's coaches. There was a tie for the SAA Player of the Year award, with Berry's Anna Jackson and Molli Perry of Millsaps sharing the honor. Birmingham-Southern's Hailee Bryan won SAA Pitcher of the Year honors, while Berry's Katie White garnered the SAA Newcomer of the Year award. Millsaps head coach Caroline DeLoach won SAA Coach of the Year honors.

Jackson had an outstanding season at catcher for the Vikings, She's currently atop the league leaderboard with 38 RBIs and 94 total bases, and is third in the league with a .427 batting average, second with 53 hits, fourth with seven home runs and 0.17 home runs per game, fourth with a .479 on-base percentage, third with 0.95 RBIs per game, fifth with 0.93 runs per game, second with a .758 slugging percentage, and third with three sacrifice flies.

Perry enjoyed an excellent season for the Majors. She hit .432 on the year to put her second in the league in that category. She also led the conference with 57 hits, 43 stolen bases and 1.1 steals per game. She finished fourth in the SAA with 0.95 runs scored per game.

Bryan was fantastic this season, finishing first in the league with 16 complete games, eight shutouts, 143 strikeouts and 18 wins. She also is second in the league with a 1.52 ERA, third with 5.07 hits allowed per seven innings, second with a 4.21 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 6.8 strikeouts per seven innings, second in WHIP at 0.95, and seventh in walks allowed per seven innings with 1.61. She also garnerd a save on the season.

The stats from White's freshman season pop off the page. She's currently fourth in the league with 48 hits, third with eight home runs and 0.21 home runs per game, fourth with 36 RBIs and 0.95 RBIs per game, third with a .729 slugging percentage, sixth with 15 stolen bases and fifth with 0.39 stolen bases per game, and third with 86 total bases. In addition, she finished tied atop the league leaderboad with an average of a full run per game.

DeLoach led the Majors to an 11-7 SAA mark, earning the No. 3 seed in the SAA Tournament. She has led Millsaps to back-to-back winning conference campaigns, with the Majors winning a total of 20 conference games over the past two completed seasons after winning just nine over the previous two. The Majors won a pair of SAA Tournament games, advancing to the pod finals before falling to nationally-ranked Birmingham-Southern.
