SAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Bracket Revealed

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 15, 2023) – With the conclusion of Southern Athletic Association regular season on Wednesday night, the conference has announced bracket for the 2023 SAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
Quarterfinal games are set for Sunday, February 19 on the campuses of the four top-seeds. The remaining highest seed will then host the semifinals on Saturday, February 25 and championship game on Sunday, February 26.
 
SAA regular season champion Centre earned the top line on the bracket while Rhodes is the No. 2 seed. No. 3 Millsaps and No. 4 Berry also earned quarterfinal home games.
 
2023 SAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals;
No. 1 Centre vs. No. 8 Sewanee – Danville, Ky. – 2 p.m. ET
No. 2 Rhodes vs. No. 7 Hendrix – Memphis, Tenn. – 1 p.m. CT
No. 3 Millsaps vs. No. 6 Birmingham-Southern – Jackson, Miss. – 2 p.m. CT
No. 4 Berry vs. No. 5 Oglethorpe – Mt. Berry, Ga. – 1 p.m. ET
 
The first round match-ups will be very familiar as each game is a rematch of the regular season finales.
 
Centre went 12-2 in the SAA regular season and are 10-3 overall at home during the year. The Colonels championship was the second in school history and first since splitting with Millsaps and Rhodes in the SAA’s inaugural season. Centre is searching for a first SAA Tournament title and will face Sewanee in the 2023 quarterfinal.
 
Second-seed Rhodes posted a 10-4 mark in the SAA regular season and enters the tournament as two-time defending champions. The Lynx defeated Oglethorpe in last season’s title game to win a conference-best sixth tournament crown. Rhodes will play Hendrix in the opening round and swept the Warriors in the regular season.  
 
Millsaps has won its last five and moved to the No. 3 seed with a 9-5 mark in the conference. The Majors are 11-1 at the Hanger Dome this year and will play host to Birmingham-Southern in the quarterfinals.
 
Berry hosts Oglethorpe in the four-five match-up. The two schools split in the regular season with each successfully defending home court.
