DICKSON, Tenn. (April 30, 2023) – Centre smashed the all-time Southern Athletic Association women’s golf tournament scoring record and won the conference title for the third-consecutive season.

The 12
th-ranked Colonels posted a score of 901 strokes, beating the previous scoring record of 915 set by Rhodes in 2016. Centre turned in rounds of 293-300-308 to finish 37-over par.
Rhodes moved into second place on Sunday, finishing with a 51-over par score of 915 (302-306-307). Sewanee took third at 53-over after rounds of 305-300-312 (917).
Nina McMurtrey of Centre led wire-to-wire to claim 2023 medalist honors. She finished with the lowest individual score in tournament history, posting a one-under 215. The freshman shot rounds of 70-74-71 and became the third-straight Centre player to win the event.
Sarah Hsu of Oglethorpe jumped 10 spots on the final day and finished tied with Lia Johnson of Rhodes and Sydney Bowes of Berry for second place at nine-over. Hsu turned in scores of 72-82-71, Johnson shot 73-77-75, and Bowes carded 73-77-75.

DAY 2 RECAP
DICKSON, Tenn. (April 29, 2023) – Centre posted a round of 300 on Saturday and extended its lead after day two of the 2023 Southern Athletic Association women’s golf championship.
The 12
th-ranked Colonels are 17-over for the event and lead 18
th-ranked Sewanee by 12 strokes. Rhodes is third at 32-over while Oglethorpe (+58) and Berry (+64) round out the top-five.
Nina McMurtrey of Centre stayed on top of the individual leaderboard, shooting a round of 74 on Saturday to sit at even par for the event. Merrick Semans from Sewanee fired an even par 72 in the second round and jumped 10 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for second. She is tied with Meaghan Grant of Centre, both at four-over.
Sydney Bowes of Berry is alone in fourth at five-over par while Rhodes’ Lia Johnson is fifth at six-over.
The final round of the SAA women’s golf tournament is slated for Sunday, April 30 with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. on No. 10.
DAY 1 RECAP
DICKSON, Tenn. (April 28, 2023) – Centre shot the best round in Southern Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship history and opened up a nine-stroke advantage after the first day at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
Rhodes held the scoring record of 298 for the last nine years before the Colonels posted a five-over round of 293 on Friday. Twelfth-ranked Centre boasts four players in the top-10 and five in the top-16.
Rhodes is second after a 14-over 302 with Oglethorpe a stroke behind in third (303). Sewanee (305) is fourth and Berry (306) is fifth.
Nina McMurtrey of Centre leads the field after a two-under 70 opening round. She posted three birdies over the first nine holes and hit the turn one-under before closing the round with eight pars and a birdie on the last.
Sarah Hsu of Oglethorpe, the second-ranked player in the nation, is second after shooting an even par 72 on Friday. Berry’s Sydney Bowes and Rhodes’ Lia Johnson are tied for third with rounds of 73.
Grace Walker (Centre), Megan Morris (Rhodes), and Meaghan Grant (Centre) each carded scores of 74 and are tied for fifth.
Round two tee times start at 7:30 a.m. on the front nine.
