SAA Women’s Basketball Report – Nov. 18, 2024

CANTON, Ga.  -  SAA women’s basketball continued to roll through the first two weeks of the season with Centre and Berry remaining undefeated. The Colonels have reeled off four-straight wins, all by double-digits, to start the year. The Vikings are off to the best start in their NCAA era, sitting at 3-0 after wins over LaGrange and Piedmont last week.
 
The upcoming week will see SAA teams play a combined 16 games.

Athletes of the Week:
Brailey Forst | Hendrix | Sophomore | Paris, Ark. – continued her streak of four-consecutive double-doubles to open the season, adding three more last week. The sophomore averaged 18.3 points and 10.6 rebounds while tallying seven steals and four blocks last week. Against Lyon on Tuesday, she tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds with three steals. Forst’s weekend started with a 16 point, 10 rebound performance against Austin and closed with 22 points and 11 boards in a Hendrix victory over Dallas.  
 
Notable Performances:
  • Olivia Falvey (Sewanee) - had an outstanding week, delivering consistent double-digit scoring performances in all three games. She totaled 65 points, 20 rebounds, and five steals over the week. In Sewanee's victory over Covenant, Flavey led the way with 24 points, two steals, and seven rebounds. Against Piedmont, she added 23 points, seven rebounds, and a steal. She capped off the week with her first double-double of the season, recording 18 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two assists in a strong outing against LaGrange.
  • Keimarya Rivera (Oglethorpe) - posted big numbers this week, including a near double-double of 14 points and eight rebounds Sunday against seventh-ranked Washington and Lee. She averaged over 12 points alongside seven rebounds in a busy week consisting of three games. Her high of the week came in the form of 18 points in a home win Tuesday over Piedmont. 
  • Elyse Warren (Millsaps) - helped the Majors dominate on the road at MUW, 92-43 on Friday. Warren collected a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while adding a steal in 19 minutes of action. 
  • Lilly Reid (Centre) – averaged 17 ponts, five rebounds, 4.5 assists, and two steals in a pair of Colonels wins. Against Greenville, she led Centre and tied for the game's leader in points with 15 to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Back on the court against Schreiner, Reid tied for the most points with 19 and led the Gold & White from the floor.
  • Elly Callihan (Berry) - had a huge game against Piedmont in the CCS/SAA Classic hosted by Sewanee. The junior put up 18 points with three three's, two of which came in the fourth quarter when the team was trailing. Her dominance provided momentum for the Vikings to take the narrow win at 47-44 over the Lions as she was just shy of a double-double with 9 rebounds. The day before against LaGrange she was 4-10 from the field with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Her efforts have aided in the Vikings starting their best season of their NCAA Era (since 2013) at 3-0.
