CANTON, Ga.  – Centre sweeps week four Athlete of the Week honors with outstanding performances by Jack Liau and Garrett George.

Athletes of the Week:  

Swimming:  
Jack Liau | Centre | FY | Lexington, KY – In the Berry College Invite on Friday, Jack Liau won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.30 and a margin of victory of 7.7 seconds. He also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 51.84 seconds. He placed 3rd in the 200-yard IM and was part of Centre's 200-yard medley relay that finished 2nd. In the Sewanee Relays on Saturday, Liau was part of a 3rd-place effort in the 200 medley relay. In the 200 butterfly relay, Liau swam the opening leg in 24.01 seconds, the fastest of all Colonel swimmers. He was also the fastest of the 4 Colonels in the 400 IM relay by over 3 seconds and the fastest in the 200 mixed medley relay. 

Diving:  
Garrett George | Centre | SR | Huntsville, AL – Garrett George won the 3-meter dive competition in the Centre Diving Invite with a total score of 336.00. He also placed 2nd in the 1-meter competition, scoring 291.15 


Notable Performances: 

  • Nick Fonzo | Berry | JR – Nick Fonzo delivered a great performance at the Vikings first meet finishing first in the 100 Back in 52.21, first in the 200 Back with a 1:57.95 and 2nd in the 200 fly with a 2:03.00. He also helped the Viking to a win in the 200 medley relay as they won in 1:35.89. 

  • Naeem Mangum | Sewanee | SR | Dunwoody, GA – Naeem Mangum led the Tigers with standout relay performances as Sewanee opened its 2025–26 season at the Sewanee Relay Meet on Saturday. Mangum helped the Tigers capture first place in the mixed 200 medley relay, splitting 26.55 on the 50 breaststroke leg as Sewanee clocked a winning time of 1:43.01. He also anchored the men’s 200 medley relay team to a second-place finish, recording one of the fastest breaststroke splits in the field at 26.19. Mangum added a 24.23 split on the 50 butterfly leg of the 200 fly relay and a 56.65 split in his 100 IM during the 4x100 IM relay.
