Athletes of the Week:  

Swimming:  
Andrew Olsen | Sewanee | SO | Atlanta, GA – Andrew Olsen posted the fastest 50 backstroke time in the conference this season at 23.94. He helped the Tigers’ medley relay to a fourth-place finish, against No. 2-ranked Emory, while also winning the 100 freestyle in 46.90 and placing second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.24. Olsen closed the meet by anchoring the 400 freestyle relay with another 46.90 split.

Diving:  
Garrett George | Centre | SR | Huntsville, AL – Garrett George started Saturday's Battle in the Bluegrass with a 2nd place effort on the 1-meter boards with a score of 276.85. In the 2nd round on the low board, he placed 3rd with a score of 257.20. The men switched to the high board in the afternoon and George dominated. He won the first round with a score of 300.35 and a margin of victory of nearly 19 points. In the final 3-meter session of the day, George won again. This time, he totaled 312.90 points to win by 41.25 points.



Notable Performances: 

Swimming

  • Xavier Moore | Centre | JR | Versailles, KY –  Xavier Moore started the Battle of the Bluegrass as the lead leg in the 200 medley relay. He went out in 24.50 seconds as the Colonels finished 2nd. In the 50 free, Moore swam a close 3rd in 22.04 seconds, just 0.51 seconds off the win. He swam the same race in the afternoon and placed 4th. Moore brought home a win in the 100 backstroke with a total time of 52.34 seconds. His first 50 was faster than any other swimmer in the race. His 2nd 50 was also the fastest compared to the others in the field. He led off in the 400 medley relay in the afternoon session with an opening time of 51.76 to lead the Colonels to a win by nearly 2 seconds over Case Western Reserve's A team. Moore's final race of the day came in the 200 backstroke, in which he was the fastest Colonel, placing 4th in a time of 2:02.59.
     
Diving
  • Jonah Kearns | Sewanee | FR | Lexington, KY –  Jonah Kearns dominated on the boards, winning the 3-meter event with a score of 272.10 and placing third on the 1-meter board with 259.43 points. His performance marked one of the top combined diving efforts of the meet and continues to highlight his consistency this season.
