Deriso Named South Region Athlete of the Year by USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2025 NCAA DIII Cross Country season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the season.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Representing the Southern Athletic Association and Oglethorpe was Ashton Deriso, bringing in South Region Athlete of the Year.

Deriso finished runner-up at the South Region Championships just one week before placing 46th at the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Oglethorpe standout also took runner-up honors at the SAA Championships and was 11th at the DIII Pre-National Invitational, among other performances.
