COLUMBUS, Ga. (May 9, 2025) – A sixth inning grand slam and four-run seventh put an exclamation point on Berry’s 12-4 win over Millsaps in the 2025 SAA Softball Championship title game Saturday.
The Vikings (32-11) hoisted the conference trophy for the fourth-straight season and eighth time overall. The championship game closed a wild final day of the tournament that started with simultaneous quarterfinal games and featured six contests to complete the event.
Berry downed Millsaps 7-2 in the quarters to earn its spot in the final. Millsaps beat Rhodes 10-2 coming out of the losers bracket to punch its ticket to the title game.
SAA Pitcher of the Year Hannah Gore was spectacular in the circle, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out seven to earn the win.
Elly Bennett led the hot Berry bats with a 4-for-5, four RBI performance that included the sixth inning grand slam. Ava Fouts went 3-for-4 with a homer of her own while knocking in three runs.
Ella Morgan Sears and Hailey Peterson both went 3-for-4 to lead the Millsaps line-up.
The championship gives Berry a second four-team, having also won from 2015-2018. Birmingham-Southern won back-to-back in 2019 and 2020 before falling to the Vikings each of the last four tournament finals.
