Women's Lacrosse 5/11/2025 7:15:00 PM Sewanee falls to W&L in second round of NCAA Tournament SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team capped off a historic season with its third-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, falling to Washington and Lee in the first round on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, who went undefeated in regular season and conference play, captured their first SAA Championship title since 2015. Sally Herrington and Erika Bolcar led the Sewanee offense with two goals each, while Elizabeth Muller added one. Defensively, Winnie Pajcic and Ella Townsend each caused two turnovers and picked up a ground ball. Mallory Magee, Lilly Jordan, and Marlin Price also recorded two ground balls apiece. At the draw, Brooke Sigmon led the Tigers with seven draw controls, while Alex Kelly added six and Price collected two. Washington and Lee jumped out to an early lead with a free-position goal, followed by a man-up score. Herrington answered with Sewanee's first goal, set up by a draw control win from Kelly. The Generals responded with three straight goals before Bolcar converted a free-position opportunity to make it 5-2. W&L added three more goals, including another free-position and man-up score, to close the first quarter. Sewanee opened the second with a draw control win from Price, leading to Muller's goal off a feed from Kennedy Harcourt. The Generals held Sewanee scoreless the rest of the half, scoring four more times to take a 12-3 lead at the break. The Tigers struck quickly in the third, with Bolcar scoring and Herrington adding another following a draw control win from Kelly. However, Washington and Lee regained control, scoring the final seven goals to seal the win and advance to the NCAA third round.
