MEMPHIS, Tenn. (May 21, 2025) – For the second-straight season, Centre has captured the Southern Athletic Association Commissioner’s Cup all-sports trophy. SAA Commissioner Stacey LaDew presented Centre Athletic Director Brad Fields with The Cup at the conference’s spring administrators meeting, hosted by Rhodes.
The Colonels won seven SAA regular season championships and totaled 124 points in the standings. Berry, winners of five conference crowns, was second with 119.5 points. Rhodes earned 116 points to finish third while Sewanee (99.5) and Oglethorpe (79) rounded out the top-five.
Berry was the leader after the fall season, using championships in football, men’s cross country, and women’ s cross country to gather 40.5 points. Centre was second with 37.5 points (football and volleyball champions). The Colonels had a big winter, winning women’s basketball, men’s swimming & diving and sweeping indoor track & field to edge Berry 81-79.5. The Vikings won men’s basketball and finished second in both men's and women's track & field. Centre clinched The Cup in the spring with a sweep of outdoor track & field and runner-up finishes in men’s lacrosse and baseball.
The Cup recognizes the all-sports champion among SAA member institutions with points awarded according to each program’s finish in the regular season standings. Affiliate members count in figuring each sport’s standings but are not eligible for the Commissioner’s Cup.
