Lynx and Tigers to Clash for SAA Men’s Lacrosse Title

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (May 3, 2025) – Top seed Rhodes ran its winning streak to seven and three-seed Sewanee survived two-seed Centre to set up a Lynx vs. Tigers SAA men’s lacrosse championship game on Sunday in Memphis (12pm CT).

SAA regular season champion Rhodes cruised in its semifinal on Friday afternoon, beating five-seed Southwestern 14-11. Andrew Murphy was on fire, tallying seven goals and an assist to lead the Lynx. Drew Downes added three scores and Jason Rubinstein racked up eight saves in a winning effort.

Sewanee is battle tested, beating Hendrix 13-3 in the quarterfinals and then taking down Centre 10-9 in a thrilling semifinal. Manoli Loupassi scored the game winner, his third of the night, with 2:25 left to get the Tigers past the Colonels. Griffin Peterson also netted three goals and Flynn Bowman earned 13 saves in goal. The victory avenges two straight 10-9 losses to Centre in the SAA tournament as their season ended in the 2023 and 2024 title games at the hands of the Colonels.

In the regular season, Rhodes beat Sewanee 18-14 in Memphis. Loupassi scored four times for the Tigers while Murphy tallied five goals.

Sewanee is playing in its fourth-straight SAA championship game and ninth all-time. They own five tourney trophies with the most recent coming in 2022. Rhodes advances to its fifth conference championship game, winning titles in 2018 and 2019.
