Women's Lacrosse 7/8/2025 11:03:00 AM Sigmon named Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee women's lacrosse senior Brooke Sigmon has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Women's At-Large team. Sigmon was named to the third team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Sigmon is the first women's lacrosse player in Sewanee history to earn Academic All-America honors and the 14th student-athlete overall from the University to achieve this distinction. A standout from the midfield for the Tigers, Sigmon graduated with a 4.00 grade point average while double majoring in Molecular Biology and Genetics and Spanish. She started all 18 games this season, as the Tigers were undefeated through conference play, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Sigmon tallied 38 goals and 26 assists, with three game-winning goals, while also contributing 43 draw controls, 23 ground balls, and causing 10 turnovers. The Apex, N.C., native earned Second-Team All-Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and was named First-Team All-SAA member this year. Over her career, Sigmon was also a three-time Second-Team All-SAA honoree, and the SAA Newcomer of the Year in 2022. The Division III Women's At-Large teams honored 45 student-athletes, with eight members of the first team holding perfect 4.00 GPAs either as an undergraduate or graduate student. A total of 19 of the 45 members have 4.00 GPAs. The 15-member first team has a 3.96 cumulative GPA. The CSC Academic All-America program honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, nominees must be key contributors to their teams, maintain a minimum 3.50 GPA, and be of at least a sophomore academic standing.
